On May 19, 2004, the inaugural aircraft departed from Katowice International Airport. Jozsef Varadi, a former leader of Malev Hungarian Airlines, is the airline’s CEO. The corporation is officially registered in Hungary’s Pest County.

As the UAE subsidiary of Wizz Air, Wizz Air Abu Dhabi was established on December 12, 2019. The airline is a joint venture with ADDH, a state-owned holding company in Abu Dhabi, which owns 51%. From Abu Dhabi International Airport, flights are offered to locations in Europe, Asia, and Africa.
