A Brief Overview Stantec Group

Stantec is a global professional services firm that specializes in the design and consulting. The business was established in 1954 by Dr Don Stanley, a Harvard environmental engineering graduate, as D. R. Stanley Associates in Canada. For infrastructure and facilities projects, Stantec offers qualified consulting services in planning, engineering, architecture, interior design, project management, and project economics.

History

The Stantec Group takes pride in its long history of community involvement. With only one employee when they first began as Stanley Associates in 1954, the Stantec community now includes around 26,000 people who work in more than 400 sites all over six continents.

Dr Don Stanley, the company’s founder and first CEO, as well as Ron Triffo, Tony Franceschini, and Bob Gomes, its past CEOs, have all contributed to this progress. Gord Johnston, its fifth and current CEO, carries on a tradition of tough leadership and community focus.

During the Company’s first 10 years, it went from being a one-person operation working on water and sewerage projects in tiny, rural towns to a business with close to 30 workers managing significant projects across Alberta and British Columbia.
