Who is a Pharmacist?
Pharmacists are generally medical professionals who develop, prepare, store and administer medications. They are sometimes referred to as chemists or druggists. They also offer guidance and counselling on how to consume medications to get the most benefit, have the fewest adverse effects, and prevent drug interactions.
Responsibilities
- Preparing and distributing drugs on doctors’ prescriptions.
- Providing clients with guidance on how and when to use prescribed medications.
- Conducting examinations for well-being and health.
- Giving vaccinations and rendering other medical services including assessing blood pressure, and fever, and testing blood sugar.
- Maintaining precise client records.
- Guaranteeing a clean and secure workplace.
- Completing the pharmacy’s operational obligations, keeping track of prohibited substances and costs, and removing expired and/or damaged medications from the stock.
- Adhering to the laws, norms, and procedures that apply to pharmaceutical practice.
- Doing other clerical duties as required.
Pharmacist Requirements and Skills
- Proven experience as a pharmacist.
- Knowledge of dosage administration and measurement, chemical compounds, medical brands and so on.
- Expertise in MS Office and Pharmacy information systems (eg. MediTech, Mediware etc.)
- Good organizing skills.
- Degree in Pharmacy/Pharmacology.
- Valid license to practice the profession.
