Khalifa University – A Brief Overview
Khalifa Institution of Science, Technology, and Research (KUSTAR) is an Abu Dhabi-based public research university. The institution particularly unites the brightest minds in the UAE in science, engineering, and medicine to provide specialized degrees.
Khalifa University was founded in 2007 by a law passed by UAE President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan in order to develop a knowledge-based economy that will contribute to the state’s post-oil future.
With three colleges, three research institutes, 18 research centres, and 17 departments that cover a broad range of fields specifically in science, engineering, and medicine, Khalifa Institution is currently a complete research-intensive university.
History
The Emirates Telecommunications Corporation, the UAE’s telecommunications and phone provider founded Etisalat University College in Sharjah, UAE, in 1989. This is where Khalifa University of Science and Technology began its journey.
By presidential order, the Khalifa University of Science, Technology, and Research (KUSTAR) was founded in 2007 to provide the country’s aspiring engineers with a wider selection of engineering degrees. Etisalat University College was then acquired by KUSTAR in the same year.
