Zayed University – A Brief Overview
Zayed University is a public university in the United Arab Emirates. It was founded in 1998. In the UAE, it is one of three institutes of higher learning that are financed by the government. It is named after the country’s first president, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. Today, Zayed University includes two renowned campuses in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. They also welcome both national and international students.
It became the country’s first government institution to get international accreditation. Zayed University (ZU) offers 17 undergraduate majors and 10 minors, as well as 10 master’s degrees. The university is divided into eight colleges.
History
The Emirati federal government established Zayed University in 1998. Until 2008, the institution only accepted UAE national women. However, with the establishment of the Sweihan campus, and cooperation between Zayed University and the UAE Armed Forces, nearly 200 male students were admitted.
The university presently has partnerships with several institutions throughout the world.
